Vegas Dave's New York @ New England Pick
New York Jets (+3.0) @ New England (-3.0)
It hasn't really mattered what I've done these past few weeks. When a game looks fishy and I go against the fishy side, the side that SHOULD WIN, does. When I ignore it and take the easy looking winner, the fishy side wins. So it goes when you are mired in a slump. But something about the Jets just seems very off to me. They are coming off of a dominating victory over St. Louis, which will be fresh in the minds of bettors. They can pass the ball, which has been New England's Achilles heel (all three losses, Miami, San Diego, and Indy have above average passing games). They can defend against the run, which makes things harder on Cassel and will come into play even more if it rains. And of course, they have the magical Brett Favre. I saw a lot of people bet the Jets at +4.0, yet the line has moved to +3.0. Everyone and their mother seems to like the Jets to win straight up here, too. I can't say they don't have good reasons, but are we really putting "too easy" and "against the Patriots" in the same sentence? In Foxboro no less? Both teams are 6 - 3, both teams have losses to San Diego and Miami. These are two evenly matched teams in my opinion, so I'll take the home advantage and go against the popular pick.
PICK WITH THE SPREAD: New England
PICK WITHOUT THE SPREAD: New England

Also like the V Tech/Miami UNDER this evening.

    Good luck!

I don't understand the logic in people picking games just because of what the public is doing. Pick what you think, not what the public is doing.

Damn, nice catch Robust, nice little mental lapse on my part.

TheAnswer, I'd take the Pats here anyway... the Jets just don't sit right with me.

I also like New England but don't have a play on this game.

New England is coming back into its own-- the strong team everyone knew they were.

And Farve is always just around the corner of a 6 interception game.

As much as being a Steelers fan makes me despise the Patriots, I think they are the pick for tonight. Jets had a great game last week, can't deny that, but it was a bad St. Louis team. Are we forgetting a close Jets game with Kansas City and a loss to Oakland?...Oakland. The Pats may have some injuries but they're still the Patriots. I'm not saying these are the Patriots of the last few years but the Jets just don't impress me.

I was going to make this point...

@Miami (barely, and they were a different team Week 1)
                    Arizona (Impressive)
                    Cincinnati
                    Kansas City
                    @Buffalo
                    St. Louis

Only the Arizona win impresses me... Miami hadnt installed the Wildcat or gained confidence yet and they still could have won in the closing minutes.

But can't you say the same about New England?

                    Kansas City
                    @ Jets
                    @ San Fran
                    Denver
                    St. Louis
                    Buffalo

What have they done to impress anyone either? These are two very tricky teams to cap, hard to tell who is a contender or pretender here.

Dave, I suppose the same could be said about the Patriots. However I think that homefield advantage is huge in this game. And you can't disregard the coaching of Bill Belichick in a matchup against Mangini.

                          This is so damn typical.

Three straight weeks of betting against games that look obvious to me that I've gotten burned, so this weekend I'm going to pick all the sides that I've capped and say fvck trap games, fvck line movements, and fvck what the public is betting... and this will be the Sunday that all those trap games start springing again.

                          I FVCKING HATE SLUMPS.

I don't want to play the world is out to get me card because I know nobody cares, but...

Yesterday, Northern Illinois goes down 30 - 6, I accept the loss... and then Northern Illinois storms back... in the closing seconds, a TD would get me the miracle push, but instead they get the FG to go to OT. They get the football first... a TD gets me the win... they throw a pick, and I lose. I have to experience the same loss twice since I conceded it, re-opened it, then lose again.

Tonight, Jets go up 24 - 6... I concede it... Pats tie it at 24 - 24... Jets get the TD to go up 31 - 24 and I concede it again... Pats miraculously score with 1 second left to give me the chance at another push in overtime... and once again, I lose.

Again, I know no one cares about my bitch fest, but after two straight losing weekends, two straight games like this are just killing me. If V Tech and Miami hadn't stayed under, I'd be suicidal right about now.

He's just mad at me for calling him a tool in his thread, in which he says take New England... then he says if good Favre shows up the Jets will cover, if bad Favre shows up the Pats will cover.

                                                    Okay, lets recap.

When onlooker gave me a warning and removed my website from my signature, I apologized and let him know I didn't know that was a rule.

When Willie Bee told me not to say "PM me to sign up for my FREE newsletter" because that wasn't what PMs were for, I complied and apologized for not following the rules.

When your signature, linking to a pay-service was removed, you started about 20 separate threads badmouthing SBR, all of SBRs mods calling them names and spewing personal insults, and all of SBR's posters.

And remember, my web site is a free blog... yours is a paid service. That is the difference in how we handled things.

So you didn't start out too hot.

Then tonight, in post 1 of your thread, you said the pick was NE. Maybe that was a typo, but benefit of the doubt usually doesn't go to those who wish losing and bad things on fellow posters. In your second post, you say if good favre shows up, its Jets + Over, if bad Favre shows up, its Pats + Under... and you'll take a stab on the Jets + Over.

                                                    Now, Jets Over hits, so you make your ATS record 1 - 0 - 0 and your Parlay record 1 - 0 - 0.

If the Pats had won, you'd have said "Oh well, we lost that parlay but at least we won on the Pats as you see in post 1..." and then you'd make yourself 1 - 0 - 0 ATS.

                                                    Sound about right?

Want me to stop bad mouthing you? Start playing fair and don't come into my thread laughing at me for losing a game. That'd be a fantastic start.

I hope to eventually reach the utopia of gambling where I don't ever overanalyze and I am not affected by slumps, but I haven't reached it yet, and I'm fully aware of that. Didn't I even say in this write-up that if I overthink it I lose, but if I make it simple I lose too? I'm just in a rut right now, happens to all of us.

When have I said "Pats burried again!" Or "Haha you suck man" or "Auto-fade!" Joking or serious, how many times have I kicked you when you were down while everyone else on the site was laughing at you and ripping you?

This makes two straight times you've done it to me, find me two times I've done it to you please. I understand that you must love to see someone else losing too, but does this really make you feel cool?
