Russell Hawkins from MajorWager.com has passed away.
One of the funniest things was when he posted that himself and a bunch of BM's pissed on the door handle to the SBR offices. I doubt it ever happened, but I'm sure it was discussed.

He seemed to really do well for himself, starting off as the Kelvinator and becoming a payment processor extraordinaire. If he died, we have lost some sort of a legend I guess.

    SBRJohn, please confirm or deny.

RIP Russell Hawkins, Founder of Major Wager

Russ aka The Major had one of the first successful gambling forums, MajorWager.com. He split off from TheRX forum to create his own sports bettor forum site and the biggest early competition for TheRX.com.

Russ passed away after his small plane crashed in Canada.

I have a special place in my heart for Russy MW. He was a pioneer and employed the best Mod ever in Minnow. Russy was a good man and stood for what is right. He had deep roots in the military, that is one attraction that made him so close to Minnow. What Minnow did for Russy MW goes beyond people's comprehension. RIP Russy, you are loved and may Jesus Christ Bless you, RIP.

                                    RIP Russ

I learned a lot from Russ when I was new in the business. His competitive business spirit manifested itself in some unusual ways. No one will top his ruthlessness. He thickened my skin and showed me that you had to me a lot more than just smart in this business.

My condolences go out to the family of my long time foe and friend.

Was he still involved in that other business and does it still exist? I got many a withdrawals that way and never had a problem - they took of their business the right way but wasn't sure if he was still doing recently.

With passing of the major and other forum starters, it serves to remind us of a pack of entrepreurs that had an idea that worked. Not too often in life does one have the opportunity to get in on a business idea that has not been saturated yet. For that, I respect.
