#10You ever been in a hurricane PO? I've lived in Florida for years...we were hit by a storm that was barely a cat 1. It knocked out the power for hours, washed out the roads, flooded everywhere, shut down transportation, and took down trees all over the place. The difference between that happening in Florida and up there is that we're equipped for this to happen, the north east isn't. It'd be the equivalent of 6-8 inches of snow being dumped in Florida. No big deal up there, but in Florida they don't keep snow plows and other equipment to manage it because it's not economically feasible.Comment -

#18Associated Press:
The stage is set as Hurricane Sandy, having blown through Haiti and Cuba, continues to barrel north. A wintry storm is chugging across the country from the west. And frigid air is streaming south from Canada.
With a rare mix of three big merging weather systems over a densely populated region, experts predict at least $1 billion in damage.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecaster Jim Cisco, who coined the nickname of "Frankenstorm," said: "We don't have many modern precedents for what the models are suggesting."
Coastal areas from Florida to Maine will feel some effects, but the storm is expected to vent the worst of its fury on New Jersey and the New York City area, which could see around 5 inches of rain and gale-force winds close to 40 mph. Eastern Ohio, southwestern Pennsylvania and western Virginia could get snow.
And the storm will take its time leaving. The weather may not start clearing in the mid-Atlantic until the day after Halloween and Nov. 2 in the upper Northeast, Cisco said.
It is likely to hit during a full moon, when tides are near their highest, increasing the risk of coastal flooding. And because many trees still have their leaves, they are more likely to topple in the event of wind and snow, meaning there could be widespread power outages lasting to Election Day.Comment -

Uh yes I have been through hurricanes. I live in Texas about 10 minutes from the coast. We have been through cat 4 and a few cat 3 storms among many cat 1 storms. I will admit that I didnt take into account that the northeast would not be as prepared as everyone in the south.
During Hurricane Rita, we didnt have electricity for 2 weeks and it was 3 weeks that everyone didnt have electricity for Hurricane IkeComment -

been hitting the tables hard at the sands in bethelehem,pa, planning a/c trip soon within the next month or 2 , 3 nights at harrahs prolly , play late night poker sessions til 8 am in morning , anytime u wanna round hit me up at the sands www.pasands.com , or wait next month til im in jersey . only thing i hate about parx is that the poker room is in other building and not all in 1 , so havent been there lately , usually go down with my gurl and she plays slots or w/e while i hit the tables. also im pretty sure we'd get arrested hanging together causing some type of trouble.Comment -
