Verlander, not really close. I think Cain's stuff has slightly fallen off perhaps due to the mounting innings he has pitched. Verlander is historically great, and has been razor sharp his past 7 starts, allowing a whooping 4 earned runs.
The game one matchup is Zito vs Verlander, a huge pitching mismatch.

Huge mismatch Zito vs Verlander. One has pitched below the league averages for ERA and WHIP, the other is well above the league averages. Zito's record does not accurately reflect how he has actually pitched.
On a small scale something similar happened last night. Lohse gave up 12 hits+walks in 5 2/3 but gave up only 1 run to SF in St Louis 6 days ago. He had the same stuff last night and obviously didnt slide by just giving up 1 run.

zito going to find out why hes not worth that sort of money when he start giving up runs and people will start criticizing him again, TIGER CAN HIT better then cardinals
