I am looking at the models that have Windows Mobil 5.0 Are they easy to use? Do you have any trouble connecting to SBR and Pinnacle with them? What model do you have?

#4I just switched from the PPC-6700 with Mobile Windows 5.0, to a Treo700p.
The Mobile Windows is slow and laggy. I wanted that myself, but I hated the lag it had. Plus I like the Treo's are much better, because I had the Treo 600 before these two phones. The 700p's internet brower (Blazer) seems to be faster then the Mobile IE one that was on the PPC-6700.
Never have a problem getting on Pinnacle or SBR, as I always tell people that on here. I make wagers all the time at Pinnacle with it. But your service better have a fast network, or your not going to be able to catch lines that change a lot at Pinnacle. Good thing Sprint has that EVDO network here.
I also read and post some here at SBR. I did a thread last year on the forums I was able to post at with my Treo600. This Treo700p is so much better.
Verizon has a cool looking one, the Motorola Q. It uses Windows Mobile. They also have the Treo700w, that uses WM.
The phones arent cheap, so be prepared to shell out some cash if your carrier isnt offering any deals to existing customers.
With that being said, I have a PPC-6700 for sale for the Sprint Network.Comment -

#5Welp, per Onlooker's advice, I finally snagged me a Treo700p.
I really can't say much more than it kicks ass.
Pinny works fine for me, as does SBR (as already noted), and other 'major' sites (ESPN and the like), as well.
What I'm having trouble with is smaller books - I can't even login or check my cashier at matchbook, for example. When there's a 'button' to click, it usually means I'm not going to continue. I've spent the last 3-4 hours using my 'expert' google-fu trying to figure it out (next step is to try a different browser app)... Hehe, and I have hit the 'enter' key;p (as the guide says you should).
Also, I'm using Verizon (I bloody hate sprint for years of torture living in Cambridge and using them) and their data speed isn't bad at all. No benchmarks, yet - I live in the sticks for a couple more weeks, so I won't get max speeds until then.
Thanks again, Onlooker - This baby kicks so much ass...
Now if Pokerstars could make a palm-compatible app... :>
Edit -- Just noticed the thread about books that work with wireless wageringComment -

Since your with Verizon, did you check out the 700w? The one with Windows Mobile. Not sure if it lags on the Treo700w like it did on my PPC-6700. Did you check out the Motorola Q at all? Or did you just want the Palm OS on your smartphone?
Probably the only problem I have against Sprint PCS is, they dont get the wide variety of phones as fast as other carriers. But the voice/data plans make up for it.Comment -

#7It was a tough decision.
The Q is reasonably priced. For me, it came down to the OS.
I didn't like how inefficient Win Mobile is when messing around with it. Also, Blazer is as powerfull of a web app as there is right now.
Just reading about browser specs was MORE than enough to get the P... I'm big on performance also, and the 2 OSs really are different. Palm is just quicker... Losing things like .xls format is tough, since I can't use it on this OS, but it's not a deal breaker.
I wish Verizon had as good of a deal on their data plan as Sprint - but F Sprint heh.. grr. Long story.
Anyhow... The more I read on Treo-geek forums, the happier I am overall. I love this thing, and I havn't even tried to trick it out or optomize it yet.Comment
