    OMG another bailout!
first the masters of the universe gets bailed out, now the mediocity from detroit is next in line with hat in hand!

let me run this past you all.

i think it would be more productive to take the money from this bailout, and TRAIN every employeee in the UAW a new trade.

instead of making more crap cars.

    or

totally only build environmently friendly cars, yes there will be losses, but a great investment in the future.

then again detroit had their chance, let someone else lead.

You act like this is a surprise...like they weren't going to bailout the car companies? I am not saying I agree with it but it was inevitable.

      Pretty sickening.

Maybe if I start a business where I make a shittier product at 5x the cost than foreign competitors I can get a bailout too.

But you guys, it would cause the mother of all great depressions if the Big 3 went bankrupt.... imagine 1.67% of the total US workforce being laid off... CATASTROPHE!!!!!!.... (even though Bush lost more manufacturing jobs in his first term.)

You guys, this is about American Pride..... I mean what would America be without its mediocre cars produced by overpaid slobs.

          USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!

seriously guys, where does it end? this opens the doors for all industries. why are car companies this sacred cow.

if obama really wants to lead with change, then come up with a vision, an alternative to this.

this is a losing bet for sure.

You dumb fukk, its more like 10%. 1-10 jobs are tied to the American Auto Industry. Get rid of the UAW, start tariff taxing the incoming imported cars, get rid of the same car in the different lines, give tax incentives for purchasing.

It's because America would fall to its knees if they lost the Auto companies. So many jobs are tied to it, this place would be dismal. Its inevitable.

One of the officials noted that about one in ten jobs in America are tied to the auto industry, and if one of the companies goes bankrupt it could have a massive spillover effect into the credit industry and other sectors. “The numbers are so staggering,” said the official. “It’s a huge piece of the financial fabric of the country." We are in serious trouble, I have been saying this for a while now.

We cannot keep bailing companies out as it does nothing

Also, Nets fans are getting a bailout.

Plenty of sports teams have given away bobblehead dolls, caps and seat cushions. But the New Jersey Nets are trying to do more for their fans in these hard economic times: Get them jobs.

                                        Deuce,

Why should Americans be forced to buy expensive shit cars when they can buy cheaper, better cars from other countries? If the government had let the auto industry die years ago, you wouldn't have this problem now.

Everyone assumes that if X amount of auto workers lose their jobs, exactly X people will end up being unemployed. Many will find jobs soon after being laid off. The auto industry doesn't belong in America anymore, just like textiles don't. Let the shit countries produce that stuff. America is rich because of the high tech goods it produces, not piece of shit pickup trucks.

The government is going to have to stop subsidizing them eventually. Might as well do it sooner than later and save the taxpayers a lot of money.

The issue at hand is paying the legacy to retired workers who made a ton of cash. There are not enough employees now to pay into the pool so they get money from else where. UAW fukked them good.

You have no grasp at all at reality. 2.5mil would initially be laid off, this doesn't take into effect the other 25 million that are related to the companies you cock sucker. I don't give a fukk about what Bush did, he is done. He had his time. Stop looking at the past and better the future.

Canada can survive because their industrial economy doesn't particularly revolve around the big 3 like the US does. What else can you throw at me?

You have no grasp at all at reality. 2.5mil would initially be laid off, this doesn't take into effect the other 25 million that are related to the companies you cock sucker. I don't give a fukk about what Bush did, he is done. He had his time. Stop looking at the past and better the future.

Canada can survive because their industrial economy doesn't particularly revolve around the big 3 like the US does. What else can you throw at me?

There are less than 300,000 US workers at GM, Ford & Chrysler COMBINED!!!!! The 2.5 million already includes outside jobs that may also be affected. You are truly an ignorant fvck.

So you approve "socialism" for the auto industry. Just not for other industries?

Would you give a loan to a crackhead living in a delux cardboard box on skidrow? Because that's essentially what the Big 3 is.... a big stinky poopyhead with no success in sight..... and you want to give him a large loan? Why, so he can go buy more crack? If you do, you should kiss that money goodbye because you won't ever see it again.
