To strip him of those titles is just as bad as keeping Barry Bonds out of the HOF. It completely fails to recognize that his competition was also using PED's - and as such, was a level playing field (relatively).

Considering the evidence, it is hard to say he isn't innocent, and with a ruling of guilty they have no choice but to strip his medals. If not they'd be undermining the rules and the integrity (or what is left of it) of the sport.

Samples taken from the 1999 Tour were analyzed for EPO years later. No where near the entire field were on it. I can't recall the number but it was a surprisingly small minority. In the 20s I think.

The "everyone did it" excuse is just a falacy.

Usain Bolt is the next icon to come down like this. May still be a while. The entire Jamaican sprint team is juicing, but the main star takes the biggest fall. Doping will always be ahead of doping control.

When they started backtesting samples from Olympics in the 1980's with modern methods, they decided not to publish the findings. There was too much there.

As far as Cheating goes, cycling teams have this down to a science,the process starts way before the event,Its a wonder anyone ever gets caught.
