As much as I fukin hate the Giants, I think they pull out a win in game 1 riding their high and momentum. I agree Zito is average at best but his team gets behind him and gives him run support in his starts. I don't think he'll have a chance to be horrendous because Bochy will pull him quick. Verlander is a beast but I'm betting the Giants will manufacture a run or two and win game 1 in an ugly fashion. I don't think Verlander will be absolutely lights out. This Giants team gets dink and dunk slap base hits and just win games. I say they take game 1 and lose game 2.

We also have to keep in mind that the Tigers will not have a DH position and Verlander will have to hit. NL style is to move runners over and manufacture runs. I don't think the Tigers will be able to do this effectively.

Buster Olney put that tweet out last nite. I did a quick search for pitcher/ump career splits, didn't come up with anything. It's damn interesting though, especially if maybe Davis doesn't give Zito the inside corner on the slow bender to lefties. Will pay attn to it early on anyway.

Don't know why anyone would laugh at the matchup, especially because Verlander is average on the road and Zito has been pitching well the last 6-8 weeks.

Verlander allowed five earned runs or more three times this year, against the Royals (eight), Angels (six) and Red Sox (five). All on the road... what a dominant pitcher...
