#2Yes. His daughter was a good player at a place I worked at the time and she brought him in to have dinner a few times with us. Guy is dirty as they come.Comment -

#7That's kind of the underlying theme I got from watching the 60 Minutes piece. People saw that and assumed he's some sort of master handicapper -- I got the impression that he's good and he wins, but sports betting isn't where he makes his real money.Originally posted by Grits n' GravyWouldn't expect to get a fair shake with him in any kind of deal. He may bet big, but something tells me his win % isn't anything extraordinary like people assume. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I took away from it: that he should be well-known for the size of his bets, rather than the astronomical accuracy.Comment -

#10Noone really has a huge sustained edge. They key is to keep growing your unit size so that you can make more from your small edge. I am speculating that Walters win % is comparable to many of the other top pro's.
Like poker, none of the very best players have an innate mystical skill that makes their winrate significantly higher than the other top players. He probably has a very even temperment and doesn't impulse bet or get out of line with bet sizing.
Like alot of good gamblers he has probably made money from a variety of pursuits such as golf betting and backing businesses (legal and possibly illegal). He reminds me of someone who would be very disciplined and make the action/terms adjust to what he wants or pass on the action/investment, another characteristic of good disciplined gambler/investor in general.Comment -

#13Definitely wouldn't doubt this, drug value goes up 500% +/- once it crosses from Mex to USA, and gradually goes up as it travels to more distant and isolated markets in the US as well. It is a huge business that functions like most others, venture capitalist can obviously make high yields simply by investing. Generally he wouldn't have to see the drugs or the drug users.Originally posted by AvengerSomeone posted here that it was drugs.

Also old school gamblers associate with a variety of betting opportunites. Before the Internet Age, there were alot more squares and opportunities to exploit bad gamblers and markets in general as the info wasn't as accessible and the gamblers were generally less informed. Many millions have exchanged hand on very poorly placed bets over the years, and opportunistic gamblers get into positions to make this money.Comment -

#14Heard owns golf courses and I think he might own car dealerships.
Heard at one (or maybe it was more than one) of his golf courses he cut a deal with the city of las vegas and was paying like 1/10th of the price of water or something crazy.Comment -
