They were down by 3 points. He made the pass for the lay up to give them 5.

Orlando was +5 meaning they could lose by 4 and Orlando backers would win the bet.

Orlando was WINNING the game by 3 you said. Meaning they were already covering the spread by 8 full points when Blair made the "fixing play" and passed to Orlando.

Yes you're right, but he could of simply went down the court made a play and pass to someone for a 3 point play, foul them and try again for 3. He was wide open so I don't see why he didn't take it down.
