You realize catchers have to manage pitchers and call pitches in different sequences depending on the circumstances. They have to think much like a QB.
In a life or death scenerario, if you had to choose a random person to take an IQ test and break 100 for you to live, would you choose a black or white person? Because baseball is losing popularity in America. Especially black America. Even when I was a kid, the blacks that played baseball did so because the coach saw how fast they were and recruited them from other sports. The black hispanics have the same genes black Americans do--they got them from African slaves. Baseball just happens to still be the most popular sport wirhin latin countries. Duh.

of the few black people who got into baseball it was because they saw a black guy that they idolized. i.e Barry Bonds. Griffey
Now like most kids who have a favorite player you try to emulate him. His stance his position. And at the time of the article they all grew up watching griffey and bonds. And wanted to be outfielders.
If Charles Johnson was a hall of fame caliber catcher Im sure you would see a few black catchers coming up sooner rather than later.
