On another note this Obamacare law isn't really Obamas baby. He wanted single payer or public option but has been undermined every step of the way basically to this wash down the law. While all the other country's can bid on jobs because they don't have to factor in health care cost we can't. U would think that alone would make Republicans want single player to save all these businesses money. But like usually the Republicans are gonna save the salaries of a precious few to fuk 100's of millions of others. Anyone who thinks Obama is a bad president while being filibustered in record historical amounts is about as simpleminded as it gets. Democrats are a DISGUSTING BUNCH OF HYPOCRITES AND ALWAYS WILL BE. Thank goodness the majority of them are poor and have very little pleasure in their lives. A few names on that Obama supporter list surprise me. I have several staunch liberals in my family so I guess it shouldn't.

There was a thread the other day where a poster said we need to raise taxes on businesses and the rich. The US rakes in about $2.7 trillion and spends over $3 trillion. The difference is added to the current $17 trillion dollar debt. When Greece and other countries hit similar levels they were bankrupt and needed EU bailouts that stipulated huge tax increases and severe spending cuts. Now listen to Obama call for more "investment" in roads and bridges and everything else except fixing the impending collapse of the economy.

Back to the math; even if we could pay down the debt 1/4 trillion dollars a year, which we can't, it would take 68 years to pay off. A $17 trillion dollar debt takes $400 billion dollars a year in interest at current rates. If rates jump to even half as high as they were in the 1980's it would take every single tax dollar just to pay the interest. That means cut everything and end every federal program. We are playing with fire. Spending needs to be slashed now and revenue needs to increase. We must immediately stop adding to the $17 trillion dollar debt. Those of you in your 30's and younger will forever be paying for the mistakes of a few con men dressed up as messiahs.

Now is the time to start paying down this debt and massive government spending cuts need to be implemented in ALL AREAS. If a road or bridge needs to be fixed, then by all means fix it but do it in the most cost effective way possible which includes NO UNION LABOR as union labor triples the price of fixing the job. We borrow money from China every year and provide foreign aid to countries that don't even like us. There are so many places to cut and some sort of private politically neutral accounting firm should be given the task of going over the government's books and making these massive cuts NOW.

Just for the record, a large majority of democrats voted to go to war with Iraq. I know the party line is to blame Bush for everything. The facts are both parties ran the debt to $17 trillion and both parties need to bring it down.

As far as roads and bridges go, what is it about being $17 trillion in debt and adding half a trillion more to the debt each year did you not understand? There is NO money for anything. Period. Infrastructure projects will be up to the states to fund. We are broke. Its like you having $17 million in CC debt and saying you need a new house. You probably do but those choices were spent when you borrowd massive amounts of money for failed stimulus, bank bailouts and military action.

Obamacare isn't really socialized medicine. It's still run through private insurance companies. Medicare is much closer to socialized medicine and last I checked that was expanded massively by Republicans.

Actually, out of curiosity, I ran a statistical analysis to see whether Democrats and Republicans were equally to blame for voting for the Iraq War. That is, what is the relationship between political party affiliation and voting for the Iraq War. And surprise surprise, there was a relationship between the two variables such that Republican voted for the Iraq War at a significantly higher rate compared with Democrats, X² (1, 528) = 188.87, p < .000001.

In other words, it's pretty disingenuous to say that a a "large majority of democrats voted to go to war with Iraq." In reality, Republicans overwhelmingly voted for it compared to Democrats and at a significantly higher rate.

It's nearly impossible to get a liberal to discuss the $17 trillion debt and the 1/2 trillion dollars a year that's being added through deficit spending. Wait until interest rates bump up to 7%. Buddy can you figure the interest payments on $18 trillion at 7%? I can, it's half of every dollar the government currently takes in. Was watching a little of H2 last night. Nixon in '71 took us off the gold standard. Meaning, the printed money
we use, is only backed by faith and not gold. It's up to the markets to value our buck.

It's plain to see, we must have an agreement with China for them to buy our debt (bonds) and in return,
they have a free rein to manufacture and resell to us. (with the help of our corporations)

So if our currency is backed by faith and we can print as much as we want, that 17 trillion is nothing
but a number. With our idiots on the hill shutting down the govt and acting like children, the world see's
that and are losing faith. Which means our dollar is too.

I'd almost say it is amazing how the human psyche works except I've seen it now a million times. People make terrible decisions, the consequences hit them right in the face but somehow it was someone else fault. Every fact and point can be shown to them but they still refuse to accept they were wrong. They would rather watch the country crumble and help speed along the process than admit they were wrong. And then they end up raising their kids the same way.
