I'm not convinced of this one sir. I mean one game does not tell us much IMO.

Oh bullshit. He's going to lose the locker room in about a month at this rate. Just my opinion, but we shall see.

I think he deserve a shot to coach a NFL team from the beggining of the year to the end!!
He has shown that he wants discipline in a locker room and most of your NFL coaches dont have that!

So far. It seems like he does it the right way...and I totally agree with how he handled Davis last week. SF is not talented, so any wins are good wins.

I like his attitude, but he needs the pieces just like every coach. A really good pass rushing LB like Ware would suit the niners very well.

Now you will not be saying this, 2 running plays on 1 yard line at end of game with clock running out, what a fukkin idiot. He will never ever be a head coach, he is just not smart enough.

He is too stubborn to a fault, he wants a running game at all cost, even though its not in the best interest of his team.

I wouldn't bet against Mike. He was one of the best players ever, and at least has the attitude to be a strong coach.

I agree he's a great leader. I'd love to play for him. If San Fran doesn't want him, I'd gladly want him as the Eagles coach. (Reid has to go)

if the run worked, everyone would be saying what an amazing call it was. and his qb could barely throw the ball without getting it intercepted....so easy to say now that it was a dumb call. there was just no hole for him.

Worst play call of the year goes to the offensive coordinator of the 49ers, I mean fuk I feel like he should reimburse all of us suckers that took the over 2nd half, with one play to get in the endzone from the 3 yrd line he tries to just walk up the middle are you fukin kidding me??? What does he think the 400 lb defensive linemen are gonna get pushed back 10 feet? I know Gore tripping over his own two feet also cost them the game but fuk at least try a play that has a chance of succeeding on the final play of the game, I don't think he even got past the line of scrimmage much less the 10 ft he needed for a TD

it was 2 1/2 yards, not 10 feet.

2 1/2 yards against a stacked box with a man in every gap is a no win situation

So I rounded up 2.5 ft, the point is the odds of a gap opening up right up the fukin middle on the final play of the game at the 2 1/2 yrd line was basically zero, even in the open field that play would've been highly unlikely to generate 2 1/2 yrds much less at the goal line, I'm just not sure what he was thinking, a diving play into the center of the defensive line from 7.5 ft out? How was this supposed to work? Moses split the defensive line like the Red Sea then the RB just walks into the end zone from 2 1/2 yrds out? Some poster said we are judging this call in hindsight but honestly even had a miracle occurred and he somehow dove into a gap in the center of the line and somehow reached the goal line I would've thought it was a terrible play call, Gore should've scored on the previous play b/c that was a correct call a pass or run to the outside and try to get to the corner would've probably produced a TD as almost no one left the dead center of the field on that play just like the previous play when Gore slipped on the Crisco they put right in front of the goal line

This type of motivational coaching doesn't work -very long- in the pros. It's for college. If the results don't come fast, he has nothing else to go to. What's he going to say then? Good pro coaches are a lot cooler and more low key.

Hill was accurate for the most part on short passes which would have been the case at the goal line. Also after letting the clock run down to 20 seconds with no timeouts running the ball shouldn't have been an option.

Update: Martz is not the most retarded individual that ever lived, the prob was the ball was originally marked at the 1 yrd line but the refs backed it up to the 2 1/2 yrd line with the play clock down to 4 secs they didn't have time to change the play, Martz said there was no way they would have called that play from the 2 1/2 yrd line

its too bad he'll get a pro job then bounced out and end up in some shitty college team or something...
He should just go to college and stay there...find a program and build a winner... Mike is a very inspirational speaker, he would do great in recruiting.

Yeah if they had a decent D-line to go with Lawson and Willis they'd have a great D. Smith can't do it all up there by himself, and even he's getting past his prime, doesn't have the same motor anymore. Their secondary has some weaknesses but overall it's alright.

Spot on post...with a decent draft I feel the team can make a big turnaround. First thing first is they need a qb that doesn't screw up in key situations. I was impressed with Hill last year but as a Niner fan thoroughly disappointed in his performance in the final 7 minutes of the game. Made some horrid decisions that really cost the team big. I did like his poise on that last drive. The time management/play calling in the final 40 seconds may be the worst ever. Couldn't believe they tried to run it from the 1 with no timeouts left although Gore should have had the td. Either way I think they should have thrown it 3 times to give Hill a shot at redemption instead of risking the run. Would be nice to get Bradford or Davis in the draft.

Mike needs some really good assistants. I would expect him to do a great job on defense. But he needs big time help on offense. He never played on a team with a good offense going all the way back to Baylor.
