Does home field advantage really matter in this series? Which team is the best? I think the Giants are a better team, but that doesn't mean they are going to win the series.

        lol

I'd say very slight edge to St. Louis based on hitting.

I think Cards edge it. People like Aubrey Huff are dead weight.

Bout even pitchingwise, Cards are much better hitting team though imo.

Homefield definitely matters in particular pitching matchups especially. Garcia has been a night and day better pitcher at home the past couple of years, and well over 1 ERA better at home this year.

Lohse and Lynn are around .75+ ERA better at home, which is significant considering they haven't allowed much on the road either. Even todays pitcher, Wainright is .35+ ERA better at home.

Obviously St Louis is the better more complete team in this series. Doesnt help that SF's winningest pitcher this season Bumgarner(tied with Cain) basically admitted he has completely lost his command, control, and thus his confidence.

Would you rather be the giants needing two at home or the cardinals needing one on the road?

Both teams seem to play better on the road, so I wouldn't see any advantage to playing at home in this series.
