#8Detroit and St Louis are two of the top markets in the country for baseball. Major league baseball had the fifth highest attendance numbers in baseball history this year and the highest attendance numbers since 2008. Far from washed up. 2nd straight year of growth in attendance, poorer tv numbers for playoffs than last year but overall a great year for major league baseballComment -

#11national league games are better for TV. people get hits, get on base, hit people over or steal. usually something going on. yankees games are all about waiting for home runs and have not been fun for weeksComment -

#19Arguably the three smartest, most loyal baseball towns in all of baseball are left: Detroit, St. Louis, SF.
Ratings or not, this is great for the game. Three well-respected franchises and dedicated fan bases.Comment -

#26If you want loyal baseball towns, try Milwaukee. Small market team that draws very well with mostly non competitive ball clubs. Detroit is a legit baseball town, but most of the fans are bandwagon folks. Between 1993-2005 when the Tigers did not have a winning season, attendance was very poor even with a new stadium. But now everyone wants to be a Tiger fan again because it is "cool" to be one now.Comment -

I dont see baseball falling behind at all, especially with the growth in Asia and Latin America and all the players around the world. I have been to a a baseball game in Japan and its a blast to see the fans, there is no american sport like that in Asia though the NBA is certainly making inroads. Fans like to see foreign players and MLB and NBA certainly have that. I think a sport like nascar may be in trouble but MLB has had a tremendous year.Comment -

#33STL vs. DET is a classic matchup. Happened in 1934, 1968, and 2006. Two Midwest Baseball towns and original baseball franchises going at it. Seems like it should do well. Better than say HOU vs. CWS or COL vs. BOS or TB vs. PHILComment -
