The TBS baseball announcers have been dreadful
I don't care how good Smoltz is as an analyst, the team of him, Ernie Johnson and Cal Ripken is sleep inducing.
I get that Dick Stockton used to be relevant, but now every time he does a game I want to bludgeon my temple with a spade shovel, and Ron Darling is boring.

MLBN had Costas and Kaat do that game earlier this week, and it was beyond amazing.

    TBS sucks.

JJ, evaluate Smoltz. I think he's a great analyst. Loved him as a pitcher, too.
Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?

yeah i wish baseball would move towards an analytical analysis in baseball booths. keep an ex player around to not alienate the entire watcher, but get a guy that can break down the probabilities of a certain play working.

tired of hearing guys saying well this player is 1 for 4 against the pitcher so they brought in this other player because he is 2 for 5. they need someone saying stfu those aren't even worth mention based on how small the sample size is.

Ernie just told me Jeter had 216 hits this year, which is three shy of his season high of 219.

Thanks Ernie, I am capable of simple, basic math.

To be fair, the games have been as good as it gets so far, Balty in 13, Yanks in 12, Werth walkoff...............
It's the announcers that blow monkey chunks

Singleton is vasty underrated, he should be on a national stage.

Did Ernie just use the term "dialed in"
Gee, that term isn't used nearly enough, huh?
Not to mention sooooo cringe worthy.

it is good to have an ex player around to break down that landing spot on the pitcher delivery. that stuff is interesting and adds to the coverage, but for the most part they are not very good.

Yeah, think about the legendary analysts, Remy, Kubek, Kaat...........
Up and coming legendary analysts, Singleton, Smoltz, all played the game and baseball smart.

I'm a NYY homer, but I can't stomach Michael Kay anymore, at least Sterling amuses me on occasions.
Rumors are floating that Kay might be out of YES
