Man found electrocuted, hanging from Detroit utility pole




An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday for a man who was found hanging Wednesday morning from a utility pole in Detroit.

Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens said a citizen called 911 at 8:10 a.m. after seeing the man hanging from a transformer on a utility pole on the 5100 block of Lawton, near I-94 and I-96.

Stephens said the man was electrocuted and she doesn’t know why he was on the pole. Other reports indicated he may have been trying to steal copper. Detroit police are investigating.

“It’s an unfortunate incident,” Stephens said Wednesday.
