Short answer: because Tommy Thibs is one of the best coaches in the league. He gets his players to play very hard for him. The Pacers are not very well coached. The Bulls will still win the central, and it will be mostly due to Thibs.

He's been in FULL scrimmages with the team FOR WEEKS. Imagine being a player on the Bulls, constantly watching him go full out and not want to play in real games, then playing hurt yourself or watching all your team mates getting hurt and coming back. Only to have him give pussy answers to the media questions day after day.

This will come back to bite Rose down the road. He's gonna regret this imo.
