I wasn't around. Looks like a lot of the whites on here are getting uppity about having a minority president. What was the forum like when Bush got re-elected?

The reaction on forums where I hung around (mainly Covers at that time) was predictable. A bunch of people who know almost nothing about politics having very strong opinions both ways.

Republicans gloated. Democrats expressed embarrassment for their country.

Airheaded rhetoric and spin flew back and forth.

There was extremism and division. Any intelligent, moderate talk was pushed to the fringes. It was ridiculous.

BBD got drunk and toilet-papered his own house. Next day he blamed the Democrats.

                I agree.

I think after the 2004 election, there was a bigger divide than I'd seen at any other time. Either you were a raging liberal or raging conservative, there was no middle ground. Very little intelligent discussion was going on.

This year was about the same, but not quite as bad. I think there was a lot more Bush hatred back in 2004 than Obama hatred in 2008. In both cases, it was tough to wave a flag for either Kerry or McCain.

I could see the bigger divide angle in 04 because of the natural hatred towards the opposing parties and the idea that Bush stole the election.

Other than the racist angle, the similarities are remarkable.

the racist angle is a given. people dont have to sign there names under what they say. one of the reasons i am for regulating the internet. not so much to suppress people, but to make them accountable for what they say. basically if you wouldn't say it out in public, you wouldn't be able to say it online without your name and info being attached to it.

doesn't have to be race only either. I see so much stupid shit posted on some of these forums. demeaning woman, ridiculing and harassing fellow posters, etc. i know they wouldn't be talking like that if they had to put there name on it.

I'll say this though: the betting in 2004 was nuts. The presidential race was damn near a pick 'em right up to the actual voting. Then when the first early exit polls were coming out, Kerry shot up to like -400 on live betting.

Then we all know what happened.

A lot of bettors got tossed around pretty good. So there was a pretty wide range of reactions on the forums about that.

No doubt. These forums can be quite a haven for the gutless.
