The Soccer World cup is down to four teams with tournament hosts Germany now favorites to win the Soccer World Cup. Germany will play Italy Tuesday with the winner playing either Portugal or France for the Cup. Odds for the Cup winner as I write are now, Germany +160, France +225, Italy +325 and Portugal +600.
The last week had some tremendous games and the shock France victory over Brazil being our highlight. Brazil was -285 to advance (-140 in regulation time) over France in the Quarter Finals and was heavily bet by our customers. We had so much money bet on Brazil that we still had a terrific result even with one of our bigger players collecting a massive $88,000 on France winning. Normally if we have a player win so much money we expect our overall result to be bad, but the whole world seemed to be betting Brazil.
The best game of the world cup for our customer’s this week was Italy’s 3-0 victory over Ukraine. Italy was -400 to advance over Ukraine and -165 in regulation 90 minutes of play. All options with Italy winning was bet for some big money. Unfortunately for us, Ukraine didn’t attract any real money at all and considering the 3-0 result, I can now see why!
Wimbledon is now into the last week but not without some surprises. Andy Roddick was a shock casualty this past week losing to Andrew Murray, but tournament favorite Roger Federer survived a tough week along with Nadal and Hewitt. Nadal has surprised many so far considering Clay courts are his specialty not grass, but many players are complaining about how slow the courts are at the moment, which is suiting Nadal. As of writing, the top three to win Wimbledon are now, Federer -350, Nadal +1000 and Hewitt +1500.
Baseball’s mid season All Star break is now right around the corner. It is this time of year that all bettors need to keep an eye on the news with many teams going into ‘Fire Sale’ mode because they are out of the race, while other teams open their wallets to buy their way further into the post season. The past week was ok for us in baseball but it would have been better if it wasn’t for one customer who loved Philadelphia and Atlanta on Sunday. He parlayed Philadelphia at +190 and Atlanta -120 (and-125) for a total of $40,000 to win $175,000!
Enjoy the final week of the World cup soccer,
