Watching these safety's and linebackers come up and fill a hole on a running play is unreal. Some of these collisions Ive seen on basic running plays are unreal. I was reading the latest issue of Mens Health and Fitness (it's the one with Joseph Gordon-Levitt on the cover) the other day and if you turn to page 60....it explains exactly why football has become such a hard hitting, reckless type of tackling and intense sport. Ironicially the article also talks about why men gamble and think the way they do. (It's actually a pretty accurate and sharp article).

The article basically states that men are hardwired and prone to take more risk once they are given more safety. (Ie- If you bought a new car with better response airbags, made of a body that can withstand collisions better and had a safer seat belt.....you as a male would be more prone to drive recklessly because you know that even if you do crash you will more than likely be fine.)

Same concept with guys wearing the latest NFL gear and equipment. Defense guys feel more protected than ever and less chance of getting a concussion than they did in the 60's and the 70's....so they hit harder and play more reckless as a result. Ironically, the opposite is happening.
