Start with democrats:
1] Financial mess occurred under Bush so it is the Republicans' fault.
Maybe. But this one douche on CNN keeps saying that it was "100% the result of the Bush administration". Wrong. Read up on the history of how the crisis came about, and you'll see the name Clinton as much as Bush.
2] Obama has a nice smile and is black so he represents the second coming of Christ and will save the world.
Facts: Almost no political experience. Has shown he is a total rookie on foreign policy and obviously doesn't have a clue about the economy (his desire to spread the wealth, long standing record of voting against free trade). But even if he was a hard-working genius who knew exactly what the country needs, he's only one man, and the political process is so phucked up, he won't be able to 'change' much anyways
Republicans:
1] Off-shore drilling is at best a band-aid solution. First of all, there is not as much off-shore oil as some are led to believe. Second of all, it'd take 10 years to even get it going. How is that going to change anything now?
The energy issue is best solved by shunning the moron environmentalists and just import it from Alberta. There is a ton of oil there, but producers are getting squeamish over all the environmental threats looming over their heads. One of which is Obama potentially refusing to allow imports from Alberta.
Kind of scary having any one party control congress/senate/presidency, but regardless of who is or could have been elected, not much will change. And all the university hippies and young idiots with shit jobs because they didn't get more than their 12th grade will have their ridiculous hopes for a utopia dashed.
If noone knew the age/race of either candidate, and never saw what they looked like, McCain would have won the election hands down. Obama is all flash and no substance. But then again, McCain might be a fossil fuel in < 8 years.
