I'm one of the elite players on SBR. Perhaps this will make sense to you in the upcoming tournament.

Theres many events. You get a total rewards card. Then you pay the cashier the money ang you get your entry. They have tournaments as low as $500 up to the main thats 10,000. Players championship is 25,000. But like anything, if you dont know i wouldnt even try.
