Patriots agreed to terms with TE Kellen Winslow, sources tell ESPN Boston.
The deal is pending a physical, which is no small caveat when it comes to Winslow. Although the 29-year-old hasn't missed a game due to injury since 2008, he's dealt with chronic soreness in his right knee for the last couple years. But if healthy, Winslow will provide an athletic pass-catching option for the Patriots while Aaron Hernandez (ankle) rehabs. Just one year ago, he caught 75 passes for 763 yards as a Buc. Winslow projects to quickly find his way onto the field for some reps in two-tight end sets, which the Patriots had been using as a base. Source:ESPN Boston

A source tells the NFL Network that Aaron Hernandez is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a low ankle sprain.
This jibes with earlier reports from ProFootballTalk.com and ESPN Boston. If Hernandez returns in exactly a month, he'd be back for a Week 6 matchup with the Seahawks. If he misses the full six weeks, he's looking at Week 8 against the Rams. Note that the Patriots' bye is looming in Week 9. Hernandez, 22, does have youth on his side as he embarks on his rehab. Pass protection mostly (which NE needs), maybe Brady throws him a 10-yard bone or two.
