    Football Prop Wager
I placed a prop wager on last weeks IND at TEN Monday night football game on 10/27. I bet Indianapolis would be penalized first.

The sportsbook graded it as a loss and I think the wager should have been graded a win.

There was only one accepted penalty in the first quarter and it was on IND. There was a penalty called on TEN before the penalty was called on IND. But the penalty on TEN was declined so TEN was not penalized.

Declined penalties do not count in the official game stats so I do not think the declined penalty should be counted for the prop wager. In addition, the exact wording of the wager was “IND Penalized First”. Since the penalty on TEN was declined, I do not think it is correct to consider TEN to be the first team penalized. TEN did not lose any yards from the declined penalty so I do not think they were penalized in any way.

I see other sportsbooks have a similar wager but use the words “Team to have first penalty of game called on them”. I could understand if these were the words of my wager and it was graded a loss. But I did not wager on the “Team to have the first penalty called on them”. I wagered on the team to actually be penalized first.

Are there any Las Vegas rules stating how this wager should be graded?

Did anyone else bet on this prop wager? If so, how was your wager graded.

Actual wager as shown in my account history below:

    Lost Short Description

345.00 Football - 4079 IND Penalized First -115 for Game

I agree with you. The way the prop bet was worded should be declared a win for you.

I'd file a complaint with SBR if they won't change the grade.

          Good input. Very productive.

But yeah, I'd look over the site for any clairification on this rule. (Well, I wouldve done it beforehand but whatever). If there's nothing there, I'd say you have somewhat of a case, although they may argue that you should've contacted them for clarification before placing the bet.

I did not want to mention the sportsbook because I was not sure if a vegas rule exists that says how this wager should be graded and I did not want the Sportsbook to get any bad press if a standard vegas rule exists.

I did contact a different sportsbook (The Greek) and the Greek said that if a penalty is declined it does not count so they grade this wager based on first penalty accepted. So I would have won this wager if it was bet at The Greek.

I agree with Cincy. The prop, as worded, should have won. I'd want to see the ticket and rules though before giving an official position.
