After a half century on the college football scene, the Western Athletic Conference fades into the sunset. The conference that gave us such greats as Jim McMahon, Steve Young, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, Ty Detmer and winningest QB in college football history, Kellen Moore is no longer. The league that sent Arizona and Arizona to the Pac-8 in 1978 and generated a BYU national championship in 1983, provided wide open offenses and grew to 16 teams in the late 1990s has been stuffed out by the realignment virus. RIP WAC.

A moment of silence, please, for a conference that provided a lot of fond memories.....
