I like the vikings in the first quarter. Last week the vikings fell behind 10-0 to the Titans. The vikings are a more physical team than the saints. The saints are vulnerable to the run and the play action fake on defense. The saints defense is ranked 27in the league as they are giving up 327 yards per game. The saints are terrible against the run and we all know how much the vikings like to run the ball. Here is a breakdown of the saints defense against the run.
-9/7 TB rushed for 146 yards on 20 carries for an average of 7.3 yards per carry.
-9/14 Washington redskins rushed for 149 yards on 31 carries for an average of 4.8 yards per carry.
-9/21 Denver broncos rushed for 105 yards on 24 carries for an average of 4.4 yards per carry.
-9/28 SF 49ers rushed for 91 yards on 19 carries for an average of 5.1 yards per carry.
The vikings are 6th in the league in rushing averaging 141.3 yards per game. THe vikings are coming off bad game where the vikings had 4 turnovers (3 fumbles and an interception). The turnovers led to some easy scores for the Titans.
THe saints are going to be without top draft pick Sedric Ellis who is out 2 to 4 weeks with a right knee injury. This really hampers the saints as they have only 3 healthy defensive tackles. The saints are bad against the run and the loss of Ellis makes the matter worst. CB Arron Glenn of the saints is also out for this game.
Prediction: The vikings are going to run the football more than they pass. The saints cannot the stop the run. Play action fake is going to work the for vikings when the saints gear up to stop the run.
