Injury Issues - Carolina O Line
Just a heads up, Carolina could be without their starting tackles, Jordan Gross (LT - Concussion) and Jeff Otah (RT - Sprained ankle) versus KC this weekend.

It looks like Otah will play, but he's still going to be dinged. I have a feeling Gross might not play - and he's their key player, although he was at practice yesterday - even though he did NOT participate.

I don't have any local news site for hardcore news that I trust yet - so if anyone hears anything, holler! Carolina's offense dropped off significantly when both were down last weekend.

    **UPDATE**
Just read a pretty reliable report that is not likely Gross will be back for 3-4 weeks - maybe longer. As Gross is the LT, that could be an issue for Carolina, I don't know their backups that well this season.

yeah i thought about this the other day, kc+ looks like the way to go. we'll see how they practice today and tomorrow and what gets put on the injury report.
even if they do play, 10 points is a lot for carolina to cover, theyve never been a team that wins big.
i havent gotten around to capping this game yet, but it might be worth looking up to see if theyve ever covered being a 10 point or better favorite.

Yeah - I'm of the same opinion that Carolina doesn't cover big spreads all that much. i also don't think of them as a strong home team, either. After just first pass in handicapping the game, carolina is a monster favorite (2 touchdowns)... But that's with a healthy O Line - and they're not healthy.

Update: Gross=100% out (he will be out for some time - probably a month, maybe more, concussions are tricky and he had a major one).
        Otah = Doubtful

This is major news for Carolina betters and great news for KC players with the juicy points.

Over the last 5 years the Panthers when favored at 7 or more are:

          SU: 11-2-0 (10.1)
          ATS: 6-6-1 (2.2) avg line: -7.8
          O/U: 2-11-0 (-3.0) avg total: 41.0

All but one of those games was at home and they won and covered that road game. Nothing of interest here with the pointspread but the total record should be considered here at 2-11 because KC will surely try and slow it down. Carolina is on a 4 gm under run with a spread >= -7 The Chiefs are 3-6 o/u playing away with a spread >= +7 since wk 2 2006

Hope you didn't end up going on KC man. Carolina has had about as dominant a first half as you could have.

I think most people are starting to think of this year's Carolina team as a strong team.. they laying the whooping stick on KC. 4-1 Panthers are looking like NFC contenders.

I agree. They aren't getting a lot of headlines cause they aren't flashy (other thant the last second come from behind victory week 1). So far this year they've played solid ball, but Car has been a Jekyl & Hyde team in recent years under Fox & I wouldn't be suprised to see Hyde show up here in a week or 2.
