Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer wanted to play. But Bengals' doctors, trainers and coach Marvin Lewis said no.
"Carson has an elbow that's inflamed," Lewis said after the Bengals' 20-12 loss to Cleveland on Sunday, Sept. 28. "We'll evaluate where he is on Wednesday and see.
"This was the best thing to do for him long term — to not play. He and I talked about it late (Saturday) night. He's tough. He wanted to play very badly."
Is it difficult to think "long term" when your club is winless?
"It's not tough," Lewis added. "He's got a long time ahead of him. It was the best thing. Hopefully, we'll have him back and ready to go next week."
