Patriots Cut Player on Eve of Super Bowl

    By ANDREW DAS
The Patriots cut receiver Tiquan Underwood on Saturday, less than 24 hours before the Super Bowl, and replaced him on the roster with his former Rutgers teammate Alex Silvestro.
The move was curious only because of its timing. Underwood was not expected to have a big role in the game, and Silvestro figures to offer only depth on the defensive line.

It was a practice squad shift, no big deal. The cut player still gets the same payday as everyone else, and a ring if the Pats win.

He was replaced because Ochocinco will likely see some playing time at WR, and the Pats wanted an extra lineman.
