Yeah, normally when you win the majority of your division games, you qualify for the playoffs and of course when you crap the bed against division foes, you take an early vacation.
Based on these points, I guess it goes without saying then that a team easily qualifies for the postseason if it manages to sweep its' regular season division schedule---all 8 meetings, home and away.
Wrong!
No NFL team in history has ever swept it's division schedule and missed the postseason, that is until this season.
The Oakland Raiders are about seven minutes away from sweeping their AFC West division schedule and the end result will in fact be an early vacation. Oakland has picked up home and away victories against the Broncos and Chargers this seasson and are about to put their mark on a victory today at Arrowhead which will coincide with an earlier season win at home over the Chiefs to complete the division schedule sweep. Unfortunately they dropped a couple of key conference games and in the final analysis those losses have turned out to be the Silver and Black's achilles heel in the end.
