Super Bowl Futures Giants at 66/1
From 12/15 to 12/22, I put 4 bets on the Giants to Win the Super Bowl.
    I risked $25.89 to win $1046.82.
My total investment was $130 taking every team in the playoffs but the Packers.
I took second tier teams like the Patriots and the Saints to win back $80-$100 of my original $130 so I could only lose $30-$50 if one of those teams won the Super Bowl.
All the big longshots such as the Giants and the Broncos paid between $900 and $1100.
All of this can be done with just $130 when you have a big favorite like the Packers paying about 2/1.

Good deal. At what book did you get the 66/1 odds on the Gmen?

      5 Dimes had the action.
The four different bets had 66/1, 66/1, 60/1 and 30/1.
$18.17 of the $25.89 was at 30/1 and that paid $545.10.
I like playing systems in the NFL. It takes the thinking out of it.
You guys should maybe consider this when the NBA and NHL playoffs start.
It can possibly be done in MLB when you have a big favorite like the Phillies this year.
If you had the Cardinals before the playoffs started doing this method you would have been able to take some $$$ to the bank!

That kind of thinking works well when you have an overwhelming favorite or two that you think is vulnerable. In restrospect, that Packer D did not justify them being as heavy a favorite as they were. Good luck.

            The Miami Heat are +175.
The Bulls, Thunder, Lakers, Mavericks and Clippers are your second tier teams.
If your total investment was $150, these second tier teams could win you back $100 of your $150 so you would only lose $50.
If team 7-16 win it all, you would make about $250.
All I am saying is if a big dog wins in the NBA like perhaps the Mavericks from last year, there will be money to be made.
I am not sure last year if the Mavericks were a 2-6 team or a 7-16. There is a big difference. If they were a #6 team, you would have lost $50. However, if they were a #7 team, you would have made $250.
It might work better in the NHL. I just have to look at it.

This type of system will clearly work better in the NHL as underdogs have a better shot at getting the gold than they do in the top heavy NBA.

No value in the NBA. Dogs have no chance. Series lines are a joke. Harder to hedge.

NHL, any team in the playoffs can win. Great odds.

After looking at it, I agree that the NHL is better for this type of system.
The 2-6 teams get better odds and you don't have to risk as much to get back $100 of your $150.
You would only have to risk about $46 instead of $60 on your second tier teams which free up more $$$ for your longshots.
You can really make a killing with your longshots.
You could do it the NBA but it is not as profitable.

Tell that to the 03-04 Detroit Pistons!
There were +500 when the NBA Championship begun against the Lakers.
Imagine what they were before the playoffs even started.

They won 50 games the previous year and made the conference finals so I doubt the odds were really high before the playoffs started.

btw, anything below +4000 are not high odds.

Then you look at the last 20-30 years, it's all the same teams winning.

What "underdog" has really won an nba championship? Mavs won almost 70% of their games last year. They were barely dogs in the final.

Pistons won 54 games that year and were like winning 7 division titles in a row. Far from an underdog.

The only surprise would be Houston in 1995 when they won as an 6th seed even though the team was very good anyway.

Do you think someone like Indiana, Cleveland can win the nba championship this year?
Teams like that will be in the playoffs with no hope. That's NBA.

k13 it is definitely better in football, baseball and hockey then it is in basketball.
                            You made some good points.
Those Rockets were pretty big dogs in 95.
I bet them for the NBA Champ Series against the Magic.
I was getting+120 for that and I risked $1000 and won $1200 in a sweep.
Had the Devils that year vs the Red Wings for the Stanley Cup Finals.
I was getting +160 for that and I risked $500 and won $800 in a sweep.
