How does Mike Smith still have a job?
Does anyone make worse coaching decisions than this guy over the course of a game?

Every time I turn on a Falcons game, he's shitting the bed. Going for it from the Giants 20 on 4th and 1 with a QB sneak down 10-2? Ranks second in stupidity only to going for it against the Saints in his own territory in OT earlier this season.

It's a lot like the situation in San Diego -- Norv Turner and Phillip Rivers are both losers and deserve each other. Same can be said for "Matty Ice" and this dunce.

i agree 100% with opening post.

i love the comparison between norv & rivers/ smith & ryan. crappy coach, crappy qb, both bailed out by 1000 weapons on offense, both exposed when push comes to shove.

Mike Smith has to be the worst coach in the NFL. Terrible play calling, terrible time management... can't make a good decision on 4th down to save his life.

He took the Falcons because he thought Giants -3 at home was a trap and faded the public. He didn't want to be on the so called SQUARE SIDE.

He felt like he was on the right side by taking the Falcons because they are horrible on the road and line stayed at 3 when he saw everyone on the Giants.

And of course now he creates a thread when he loses a bet. If you ask him why he bet the falcons, he will say it had nothing to do with that like he always does to not feel ashamed.

He's probably already trading our draft picks away for another receiver. Who needs defense.

It's because the Falcons have sucked for so long. They just had back to back winning seasons for the first time in franchise history under him a few years ago. And now they made the playoffs two years in a row. The bar was set low so it makes him look better than what fans have been putting up with for 40 years. I don't like the guy but people aren't that pissed at him. He'll be back, this isn't Pittsburgh , San francisco or Dallas. The falcons are perennial losers so making the playoffs is pretty good comparatively.

good comparison to rivers and norv turner. however, i think that philip rivers and matt ryan are pretty good quarterbacks. better than most in the league. i think ryan was 5th in passer rating this year?

mike smith and norv turner are just god awful coaches and need to be replaced immediately

Yup. I like him as a person, but as a coach he makes some poor decisions. Just go back to that Saints game where he decided to go for it on 4th down in his own territory.

Falcons are extremely overrated. Matt Ryan is a solid QB, but that team can't function outside of their Dome. And Michael Turner just isn't cutting it anymore IMO. He has VERY average speed (to put it nicely). If his O-line can't create a hole, then you can chalk him up for a loss or a no gain. I see Turner get stopped for more losses than any other RB in the league, and it's not like Atlanta has a scrub O-line.

How many times are you going to complain? Had you bet the Giants, this thread would never have been created. The same as if the Giants had gotten blown out. Would you say how does Tom Coughlin have a job? Nope, because you only care about your $10 bet you selfish small bettor
