This comes on the heels of Leinart's 4-of-12 passing performance for 24 yards and three interceptions (that's four completions and three turnovers) at Oakland in the third week of the preseason. Leinart finished with 18-of-31 passing for 177 yards (5.7 yards per attempt) with a touchdown and those three picks. Warner has barely played this preseason, completing 8-of-13 passes for 94 yards (7.2 yards per attempt), but was a stud last year for Arizona throwing for 3,417 yards and 27 touchdowns over 11 starts.
Analysis: Once we get confirmation of the news, possibly on Monday, you can expect Warner to shoot up our rankings. Not only does he have a terrific arm and strong command of the Cardinals' offense, but he's also playing in a contract year. Really, this couldn't have worked out better for Warner, or for receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin, both of whom posted their best stats last season with Leinart on the bench. Assuming he's starting, Warner is a low-end No. 1 Fantasy QB worth a middle-round pick while Leinart is relegated to being a late-round flier as a handcuff to those owners who pick Warner.
