Ravens +3½ at New England Patriots

    Game Time: 08/07/2008 07:30 PM -
    By: Dave Cokin | playbook.com

Look for Baltimore first-teamers to be on the field longer than New England's, giving the Ravens a solid chance for the outright win tonight when they meet Tom Brady and the Patriots.

There is strong information coming out of the Baltimore Ravens camp, as new coach John Harbaugh has taken a far more focused early tack than Brian Billick ever did.

Kyle Boller should go most of the first half, followed by former Buckeye Troy Smith who's been impressive and improving in camp.

The Patriots are thin on the offensive line because of injuries, especially at tackle. Quarterback Tom Brady and the first-stringers won't have pads on for long, if at all.

The number on this game has dropped and with good reason, as Baltimore has an excellent chance to win. I'm on the Ravens.

    Free Pick: Ravens +3½ (-110)

New England Patriots -3½ vs. Ravens

      Game Time: 08/07/2008 07:30 PM -

With the Patriots 31-18-3 ATS against the spread in the preaseason under head coach Bill Belichick, New England is the play tonight minus a FG and a hook vs. the Baltimore Ravens.

You might think a team that has been as successful as the New England Patriots would take it easy in the preseason by resting their starters for the regular season grind.

Not so with Bill Belichick at the helm as he has gone a fine 32-21 SU and 31-18-3 ATS as the head coach of the Pats in the preseason. He wants to win anytime New England steps on the field and the Patriots will do just that this evening at home against the Baltimore Ravens. Lay it with New England!

      Free Pick: Patriots -3½ (-110)

        Baltimore Ravens +3½ at Patriots

New head coach John Harbaugh will want to get his career and his team's 2008 season off on a winning note tonight when the Baltimore Ravens travel to meet the New England Patriots.

The Baltimore Ravens have a new coach who has brought a new attitude to the team as they prepare to begin their preseason slate against the New England Patriots.

Baltimore has announced Kyle Boller as tonight's starting QB, but expect Troy Smith and Joe Flacco to play hard and try to impress John Harbaugh once they get out there. The Ravens have a few running backs that are battling for playing time and they will look to make themselves known tonight.

The Patriots starting unit won't see much time in this one. New England's Bill Belichick doesn't put much stock into preseason; his Patriots have gone 2-2 SU in each of the last three. With the starters on both sides not playing much looks for the Ravens to outwork the Patriots tonight. Play on the Baltimore.

        Free Pick: Ravens +3½ (-110)
