3-2 last week despite a laptop virus depriving me of all my charts and complex calculus models (cough cough). This week I just haven't been in the mood to analyse the games from 8am to 9pm every day as I usually do (cough cough), so it's a little more 'seat of my pants'. Could be fun, and with seven bets I'll be watching the CBS ticker more than the actual game on-screen...
49ers @ Redskins
San Fran keep confounding my statistical indicators that insist they are very over-rated. Washington were awful last week at Toronto, at least on offense. Still, I think they have enough 'D' to stymie the travelling 49ers (good name for a band) who weren't exactly eye-popping in holding off Cleveland at home last Sunday. I expect little scoring and an underdog cover helped by a lucky bounce or two.
Mystic Limey forsees: San Francisco 17 - 20 Washington
5 units Redskins +4
Bengals @ Titans
I like the Bengals, plugging away manfully with a rookie QB. But in this spot they are making a second journey in eight days, and must have one tiger-eye on next week when they begin a stretch of four consecutive division games that will make or break their season.
Mystic Limey forsees: Cincinnatti 9 - 20 Tennessee
6 units Titans -3 (getting 21/20 odds)
Dolphins @ Chiefs
There's oddly little separating these teams on various statistics, yet Miami are 0-7 while the Chiefs sit pretty at 4-3. Well, I have Miami down as under-rated (hardly surpising for a winless team that has never really been blown out) and wonder if the Chiefs might lay an egg after that weird Monday Night win over San Diego.
Mystic Limey forsees: Miami 19 - 18 Kansas City
5 units Dolphins +4
Giants @ Patriots
I'm sorely tempted to oppose my own team again, which proved profitable last week at Pittsburgh, but am going to pass on that. If the Patriots players and coaches feel even half as sick about 'that' Superbowl as I do, they will be playing hard and dirty here. It would also bother me, if betting the NYG, that their 5-2 record has been amassed against opponents who have won only 15 games between them so far.
Still, I rather like the look of the 'under'. The Patriots haven't gone over 51 in their last four games and I expect them to hand the ball off quite a bit on Sunday.
Mystic Limey forsees: Around 43 total points
5 units Pats/Giants UNDER 51
Seahawks @ Cowboys
Dallas have covered this kind of spread only once this season. But they did it at home against a weak team from the NFC West, and here comes another one. Apart from a rather flukey win at NYG, the Seahawks have been characteristically poor away from home. I expect the Cowboys to get to 4-4 with a heavy win.
Mystic Lime forsees: Seattle 16 - 31 Dallas
5 units Cowboys -11
Jets @ Bills
I see this as a very good defense on one side of the ball, and a defense that will be made to look good on the other side of the ball by a misfiring offense (you can work out which teams are which if you like, answers are upside down at the foot of the page). Ergo: low-scoring. Hopefully.
Mystic Limey forsees: Around 37 total points
5 units Jets/Bills UNDER 45
Ravens @ Steelers
Betting the Steelers at home as underdogs or small favourites has worked out well for me this season. I have the Ravens offense indicated as 'over-rated', and they haven't even looked all that great.
Mystic Limey forsees: Baltimore 17 - 24 Pittsburgh
6 units Steelers -3
We're about to pass the halfway mark of the season... enjoy your NFL Sunday!
