Roethlisberger has been called upon to throw it more often this season (265.4 ypg – 9th) because Rashard Mendenhall and the running game has struggled with just a 117.9 yards per game average (14th).But since the Patriots have been used and abused in the passing game thus far, allowing a league high 322.2 yards a game in the air,the Steelers might flip the script and pass on early downs to set up the run in typical throwing situations.Offensive play out of the shotgun will be advantageous for New England Patriots,The key for the Patriots defensively, give McCourty help over the top and take away Miller and Ward underneath.Right now,Ward is questionable with an injury but I would imagine he’ll play. The Steelers are only 12th in the league in rush defense,I expect the Patriots to use Nate Solder as an extra blocking tight end (if Vollmer is healthy) and pound the ball down the Steelers throats I am taking the Patriots vs Pittsburgh Steelers Game Total rather then then -3 New England[I think this game should be pick].If the Patriots can produce a similar plan as last year,to produce pressure and shut down the run on defense, while controlling the physical nature of the game on offense, they should find success against Pittsburgh.New England is playing at Pittsburgh for the second straight year. The Patriots survived last year’s trip by outscoring the Steelers 39-26 in a game that was typical for New England’s offense but slightly concerning on defense?I like the Over in this game 50.1/2 [ Patriots 31-24] NOTE> The Patriots' defense has been sporadic this season, too, allowing an average of almost 424 yards per game. But Tom Brady and the offense have been potent enough to carry the Patriots to wins in every game but one so far..This game will be a shoot-out with both teams scoring in double digit numbers.
My record after the 7 weeks 11-4-1... last 6> Lost My Teaser By 1/2 point with Dallas & Denver with a 6 1/2 point teaser. Lost Ravens -7 1/2 against Jaquars. Win with Lions-7 at home Against bears.. Loss taking Minnesota Vikings+3 against the Chicago Bears.. Win with New York Jets over the Miami Dolphins on Monday night -7 Loss.taking the Miami +2 1/2 over Browns. Here Are Some Stats on my research of match-up that found on net.... Pittsburgh would never be considered one of the prettiest teams in the league, but its play has been effective enough to carve out a 5-2 SU start (3-4 ATS). After a 17-10 loss to Houston in Week 4 as a four-point road favorite,it has now reeled-off three straight victories in which it outscored its opponents by a combined score of 87-50 The total has gone ‘over’ in four of its seven games this year. The total has gone OVER in 8 of Pittsburgh's last 11 games The total has gone OVER in 6 of New England's last 8 games on the road. The total has gone OVER in 7 of Pittsburgh's last 8 games when playing New England. The total has gone OVER in 5 of Pittsburgh's last 5 games when playing at home against New England

pats are 4-7 off bye weeks for what its worth. I initially looked at this as the gimme game of the week, but looking into it deeper, if there is a spot this team (patriots) have a good chance to lose in, its this week vs pitts.
i might tease the steelers up just to play it safe...or may stay away all together.
good luck with your play though!!!! like the write up.

Hey hth kinda of a newbie here, don't you think the cowboys kind of exposed Brady and the pat's 2 weeks ago.Thats why i hate bye weeks because you don't know how a team responds to a win or loss the following week.Cowboys held the pats to lowest stats in all category's 2 weeks ago, correct me if im wrong but Brady and the team had thier worst performance of the year at home against a good run defense and a mediocre overall defense.Steelers are a vet team and because of the lockout are finding thier stride right now.I don't know when the last time pitt was a home dog.I know pats like to spread trips left or right, use welker in slot against pitts d etc etc.Just think pitt is or has watched plenty film of the cowboy game 2 weeks ago and is licking thier chops right now to get back at brady w/ a healthy running game, something that the cowboys lacked 2 weeks ago and almost won the game....appreciate any response or advice before i pull the trigger lol....

I'm not sure where you got the 4-7 record for NE coming off their bye week. I believe NE is 8-0 since 2003 after the bye week.

unless their is wacky weather in pitt sunday there will need to be odd turnovers for this game to stay under, kinda like the dallas game. other than that i like the over too. pats give up 20+ in their sleep and brady will get 30 for sure. good luck!

I don't understand. Are you saying the Steelers are going to overlook the Pats, the team that has dominated them like no other? The Ravens game is just as big, actually bigger, but I don't see how you can overlook the friggin Patriots.
BTW, Pats ML is my only play on Sunday.
I'm 9-0 my last 3 Sundays. (Saturday is a different story)

That's exactly what I'm saying. It's a great situational play for NE......NE by at least 7. You take your ML, I'll take -3(+100) and we'll both be happy.

i like the under.. the steelers are going to want to keep brady and the pats offense on the sidelines as much as possible. I see a 28-17 type game in favor of the patriots

Point noted, I still like NE in this spot. They should be at full strength and looking to make a statement here with the Steelers in a down year. NEs' tight ends should loom large in this game, I don't think Pitt. has anyone to cover them. Brady may have a field day against these linebackers.

Road favourites in general, coming off a bye week, are typically a very good bet. Add to that, the Steelers 5 wins have come against teams that are collectively 8-24 at the moment, losing to Houston and Baltimore. The Pats also pounded the Steelers last year (they were 5-2 going into this game in 2010 as well), and Pittsburgh was a much better team last season. Pittsburgh will still score against NE, but the spread for this game does not accurately reflect the matchup. NE rolls, and I'm pretty sure your total flies over as well, Harry.
