I Don't Understand the Phillies Offseason Moves

why did they trade for a 3rd good CB when they knew their linebacker position was gonna be a big question mark coming into the season???



why not trade kolb to try to get a high quality, experienced and tough middle linebacker??

Phillies are doing fine, they are one of the best teams in baseball

Andy Reid, along with other coaches in football, view linebacker as the least important position in todays game. Defending the pass and getting to the qb is the most important thing in their mind. It's tough to see the benefit of having three great corners yet, but they did it strictly to beat the Packers and siants, who they have not played yet.

I figure they expect to be playing a lot of nickel packages because the league is moving towards more wide open passing game. But, the way to beat the eagles is to not got to 3 receiver sets and throw to the tight end. It remains to be seen how it ends up working. all things considered, they were leading all these games until Vick got hurt, so arguably if he could stay healthy they would be ok.
