Which big week 1 favorite loses SU?
some good +EV value in week 1. Give me the Seahawks to beat Alex Smith and the shitty 49ers. I think Tavaris Jackson is overrated and a 5.5 spread/+210 moneyline in a toss-up game is too good not to jump on.

Buffalo vs Kansas City especially if Cassel misses game or is limited is another good opportunity. Buffalo nearly beat them last year and have more weapons this season. I think Cards, Browns, Chargers and Pats take care of business as big favorites. Chiefs or 9ers will have a slip-up week 1.

    Take it to the bank.

Pick the winner, not easy of course, but the spread matters very little in the NFL...about 20% +/-.

CIN - Everyone is down on them, but if their defense rebounds they can rely on the run and stay in this game.

SEA - 49ers suck bad and have all new coaches/schemes/players.

MIA - defense can cause Brady a lot of problems, home field advantage, 1st divisional meeting of the year.

Dallas has real shot vs. Jets. If Felix Jones can have a little success vs. Jets run defense, the Cowboys win.

I wouldnt call NY a "big" favorite, but I agree with you that DAL can win this SU. I think NYJ take a step back this year and everyone is sleeping on the cowgirlz. How is NY going to manufacture a pass rush? DAL have a questionable O-line but it might not matter if Jones lives up to his preseason hype. Blow-mo has sweet receiving options, but I always sleep with one eye open when I put my $$ on him.

How do you think NY will respond in prime-time and the whole 9/11 hoopla? I'm not sure if that will work for them, against them, or be a non-factor...

I say Skins beat the Giants. Seahawks might beat the 49ers.

Redskins over the Giants if I had to pick one. If Grossman manages the game and doesn't do anything stupid, they have a shot.

Bears, Bengals, Bills and Vikings have a good shot of defeating a favorite straight up.

Not really an upset, but the Bears can beat the Falcons at Soldier Field as a 3 point dog.

The Panthers also have a shot at getting one of their 2-3 wins this year...

Not liking the Rice/Gallery injury news coming from Seattle. Gotta love the Pete Caroll revenge factor though, he wants to destroy Harbaugh. In the crappy NFC west who the hell knows.

Careful with minnesota. I know SD starts slow but remember there's no williams wall and the vikes o-line is god awful. peterson can carry a team but they'll be forced to throw once rivers carves up that secondary with vincent jackson in the fold and gates healthy. Books are begging people to take all those points with minny but I smell a double digit win for SD.

opinion based - i feel CHI, MIN, BUF and WASH all have SU win potential. obviously MIN has the most value plus head-to-head & week 1 road dog vs non-conference trends to help suggest they are a play on. idk if anyone is interested, but teams going 0-4 SU in pre-season are 3-8 SU & 2-9 ATS last 5yrs in week 1. i dont play simply on trends or suggest anyone else do so, but they are part of the research.

Dallas and St. Louis... though 4-5 point lines may not qualify as "big" per se.

I also originally liked fading the 49ers, but not quite ready to trust the Seahags on the road with TJ under center. But a Seahags win wouldn't surprise me as the 49ers embark on their quest to win the Andrew Luck Sweepstakes...
