Rodgers comments starts firestorm in GB

The magazine asked Rodgers “whether he feels pressure to connect with the fans the way Favre did.”

“I don’t feel I need to sell myself to the fans,” Rodgers responded. “They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut.”

Reached by telephone Tuesday afternoon, Rodgers wanted to immediately clear up any misunderstanding with the team’s fans.

“I do care deeply about the fans and I think anybody who has been to training camp sees a lot of times I’m the last one out signing autographs. I care about the fans; I care about their opinions,” Rodgers said. “Everybody wants the fans to care for them and to pull for them and I am no different.

“I think my record, as far as the time I spend with the fans, and more importantly the stuff I do in the community, kind of speaks for itself.”
I think his backtracking made Willie Randolph look credible after explaining his media-are-racist comments..

Rodgers playing in Green Bay rather than NYC is already looking like a blessing for him.

I agree. Talk about an impossible situation for a young QB.

I grew up hating Steve Young for pushing Joe Montana out the door, and I didn't even like the 49ers. Plus Steve Young was a veteran that had already started in the USFL and in the NFL for the Bucs, so he should've been less susceptible to letting the situation rattle him. But Steve Young was in a similar impossible situation and would have been considered an incredible failure without his eventual Super Bowl ring. Maybe Rodgers should give Steve Young a phone call. I still think Steve Young is a tool, though.
