Chicago Sun Times columnist Mike Mulligan predicts that Kyle Orton will be the Bears' starting quarterback this season.
I think orton is the only QB in the league worst than Rex. Time for them to trade for someone.

I think the entire offense needs to be rebuilt. They did get an OT, RB & WR with their first 3 draft picks, though. If Forte can hit the ground running, they might get something going.
Orton is definitely the choice over Rex. Orton plain & simply wins games. Although Rex does put up better fantasy numbers. If I'm a Bears fan, I want to see Orton starting week 1. But, I'm a Packers fan, so I hope Rex gets another chance! haha!

They are going to go with Rex... But I think they are crazy. Orton, while pretty bad, is still a dramatic upgrade, assuming he protects the ball like he did in his rookie season. He's also had some time to mature... I think he should be the guy, but probably won't be. The Bears are crazy to have kept their QBs as is so far this offseason.

I'm not sure what the Bears could really do with the position this offseason. Drafting a rookie would sound the alarm bells of "rebuilding", which isn't really what guys like Uhrlacher want to hear. They aren't really a team that will try to swing a blockbuster trade for a starting QB. In the NFL, there just aren't enough decent QBs to go around. The Bears are probably best off trying to make one of these guys work. On the bright side, at least they kicked Greise out the door!

That's true, to a degree... But I don't consider it 'rebuilding' when your starter is no better than the best backup in the league - and I'm being nice. Actually, I can't think of many backups that are worse than Grossman or Orton.
Heck, they could take a shot on Leftwich or something... I think Quinn Grey is also still available. While he's probably a backup at best, he's pretty damn good and can help you win some ballgames - and also coming from a 'run first' type of offense that has no receivers.
I'm also a bit partial to Orton due to all his partying pics from deadspin when he was starting as a rookie... He's the man.

McBain, Culpepper is still out there. Maybe when push comes to shove he can come to terms with the Bears, maybe a reasonable one year deal or something. I'd love to see Culpepper back in the NFC North.

Guh, forgot about 'Pep. Good point. It's a real shame how fast his career has blown up. MVP to Miami and Oakland... I wonder if he can get it back. He was a damn good QB, despite all the turnovers, he could win ballgames.

He's still got it. The injury he had back in Minny was the type that would take a couple years to get completely back to 100%. I bet his health is pretty good right now.
If he can get back with the right offense, I think he can still have a few quality years. Right now, he's a Kurt Warner type of QB. MVP caliber pedigree, can still produce, but handle with care.
The drawback, he was a fumbler even in his best years. Unless he fixes that problem, I wouldn't want him on my team.

It would be nice to see that person be Brady Quinn but in all honesty Chris Simms seems like the QB that is most likely to be traded at this point. I wonder if they have Vinny Testaverde's number?

Shoot me now. I cringe at watching the Bears have to choose between either one of those QBs...

I certainly think you can make the arguement that it does't matter who the QB is. Both are bad. With the almost complete lack of playmakers on offense, the Bears could be historically bad on offense this season. And with an aging defense, it could be a LONG season in the Windy City this year.
