Very interesting. Throughout history, QBs picked #1 overall tend to start week 1. (One notable exception is Eli Manning.)
The main consideration is how long the lockout will last. Cam might simply not have enough snaps to be able to start week 1.
So, we're really betting on how long the lockout will continue. I haven't kept up on the lockout news, but we had a lift of the lockout for a couple days before the draft before it was quickly reinstated. I'm not a lawyer and don't really understand what the details are to determine whether the lockout can be lifted again or whatever. I guess that's the key to examining this bet, knowing when the lockout will be lifted again. Every moment is critical because Cam could be studying the playbook right now and working with the coaches, but under lockout terms, technically he can't be doing anything like that whatsoever.
I think that the lockout will be lifted sooner than later. I'm willing to bet that Cam will get enough work to be ready week 1.Comment -
