Easy and Hard NFL Seasons

Theory: The NFL is easier when the players feel secure and know what is 'expected' of them.

Thusly seasons when a strike or lockout is not on the radar at all are better for the shrewd bettor than otherwise. Certainly last season seemed to be impossible but the previous few had seemed very profitable.

Unfortunate conclusion: Expect tough seasons for at least the next two...

comparitively easy to pick winners, at least using my system(s)

It seems that some seasons are better than others; parity (mediocrity) and distraction add noise to the results

You're right, sort of. The thing that makes it a bitch is how fast Vegas has reacted on certain teams. The totals have been brutal as hell to cap, with very few gifts. It seems the lines sharpen up 1 play/week more than the year prior. The more I punt, though, the more I really like playing dogs in certain situations. At least MORE situations than I would've played 5+ years ago.

I did very well last year on the NFL, so if that was a hard year, then I'm looking forward to the easy ones.
