MIAMI -- Former LSU assistant coaches Kirby Smart and Bo Davis will rejoin coach Nick Saban with the Miami Dolphins, the team said Friday.

Smart will coach the safety position, and Davis will be assistant strength coach and assist with the defensive line.

Smart, who was defensive backs coach on Saban's LSU staff in 2004, spent last season as the running backs coach at Georgia. He played defensive back at Georgia in 1995-98.

Davis spent the past four years as assistant strength and conditioning coordinator at LSU. He was a three-year letterman as a defensive lineman for the Tigers in 1990-92.

"I've worked with Kirby and Bo and know the qualities they possess," Saban said. "They both have coached at successful major college programs, allowing them to make a smooth transition to the NFL. They are excellent teachers and will be positive additions to our staff."
