    2010-2011 NFL team salaries.
I was curious about the effects of 2010 technically being an uncapped year with no salary cap, whether any teams went crazy trying to buy a championship. It turns out that no teams did anything crazy and more or less everyone stayed below what the 2009 salary cap number of 127 million.

The highest payrolls in 2010 were the Dolphins and Giants with 136 million for two teams that didn't even make the playoffs. But the "final 4" teams (Packers, Steelers, Jets, Bears) were all in the top 10 for payroll, so I guess it does cost a little more to have a championship team.

The lowest payroll in 2010 was the Chiefs with 80 million, which isn't bad for a playoff team. Next was the Bucs with 84 million, another bargain. After that is the Seahawks with 88 million, which actually bought a playoff win.

I was somewhat surprised by some teams, like the Cowboys near the bottom at 90 million, I thought Jerry took care of his players. The Patriots at 95 million are another surprise, but I guess they are pretty tight with those purse strings. Also the Bills and Panthers paid around 112 million and were two of the worst teams in 2010.

Interesting, I can't believe the Cowboys were so low. Pretty impressive the Chiefs did so much with such a small payroll.

We must be thinking back to the Aikman-Irvin-E.Smith-D.Sanders days. I think Jerry broke the bank back then.

I think this is debateable. Rookies aren't always cheap. Plus, there are 7 teams younger than the Chiefs:

A better statement might be to say that the Chiefs are so low because a lot of unproven players overachieved.

But, yeah, I agree that KC probably had the 2nd best 2010 draft class in the NFL, second only to NE.
