If there has been any research done on the topic, I would bet that black coaches have underperformed their white counterparts in all sports against the spread and straight up.
One reason is the intelligence factor but the 2nd and bigger reason is that many black coaches are propelled to that position due to affirmative action reasons.
There is incredible pressure on owners to hire black coaches regardless of whether or not they are the best individuals for the job.
For the same reason, I have no doubt that black college students underperform their white counterparts in all major colleges throughout the nation.Comment -
^andy, I don't necessarily disagree with your train of thoughts but I would rank both Tomlin and Lovie in the Top 15 coaches in this league. They are certainly better than many of their current *white* counterparts, i.e. Gary Kubiak, Jack del Rio, Chan Gailey, Tony Sparano, Pete Carroll and even the current Mike Shanahan, to name a few.Comment -

Peyton manning seems to make up for his coach's deficiencies only in the regular season. 9-10 all time in playoffs and has lost more home games than i can count. running game defense and rex grossman got him his super bowl. pats championship game 2nd half is only time he has performed in playoffs. Steelers dont make decisions based on rooney rule, even if it is named for owner. tomlin is excellent coach. theres a reason theyve only had 3 coaches in 4 million years. i hope big ben gets his 3rd lombardi.Comment -
