the jungle is now moving the other way again: I'm seeing CHI+4 at Bodog, perhaps after a demi-god write up of GB's QB in USAToday.

BTW, branding DH as a homer or stupid is a good reflection on your trolling skills.

Who are you wrecktangle? Get serious. Anyone who says that the Packers were "lucky" in the two playoff games loses credibility...no matter who it is.
Like Ditka saying the Bears are better in nearly every phase than the Pack. Really?? Yeah, HOMER. That goes for Ditka, that goes for you wrecktangle, and that goes for DH. Don't say stupid stuff, and you escape liability for saying stupid stuff. DH said something stupid, no way around that if he indeed was trying to say the Packers have been lucky in the playoffs so far. Afterall, it's not like they just showed up after a bye and played a JV team on their home soil to get to this game afterall. Get serious...guess who the troll is then buddy.....

people think that the bears played possum in week 17?

-smith's #1 priority is to beat the packers.
-you don't play your starters a whole game risking injury with a vanilla scheme. You give them a chance to win.
-a bears win in week 17 knocks their #1 priority out of the playoffs and now they have to face them again.
-I don't see a vanilla scheme doing them any good. These teams know each other inside and out. neither team will do anything significant that the other team hasn't seen.

        ...it just doesn't add up.

          - Smith's #1 priority is to win the Super Bowl.
          - You do if you're playing "possum"
          - a Bears win would have put them team that beat them the worst in the playoffs. #1 priority? Blah.
          - That's exactly why they weren't going to show them anything new.

You gotta be nuts to think that they didn't have a potential rematch setup in the back of their minds there. Of course they did.

then lovie smith must be nuts to put his starters out there at risk of injury in a game he didn't game plan to win. Cutler got sacked six times. Apparently Lovie is willing to risk the health of his qb with a vanilla game plan just in case they meet 3 weeks from now? ....when you have a chance right there to knock the #1 priority (according to Lovie himself) out of playoff contention.

it doesn't add up. bears played to win and almost did.

While I agree with your post, Smith's number 1 priority now is to win a SuperBowl. He has to appease the massive meatball fanbase here in Chicago and they love that kinda stuff. I've heard people (including my own mother) say that they don't care how the Bears do as long as they beat the Packers.

No way the Bears played "possum" that is just idiotic.

agreed, now his priority is to win a super bowl, that happens to mean that they have to beat the packers to do it. I grew up in wisconsin and know the rivalry well. Bears were trying to win that game and almost did. Nothing would have been sweeter for the bears than to knock GB out of playoff contention.

great rivalry, will be a great game. pack 21 bears 10.

Winning a super bowl would be sweeter. And they have a better chance at getting there after the way they played in Week 17. They were able to see what GB had to throw at them in a do or die situation. GB wasn't able to see what the Bears are going to throw at them in a do or die situation. Advantage Bears.
