Patriots agree to one-year deal with Bryant
The Patriots, down two cornerbacks because of free agency hits, reached agreement with another veteran, Fernando Bryant, to give them a competitive stable of coverage players.

Bryant, who turns 31 next week, reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Patriots on Thursday morning. Bryant joins Jason Webster and Lewis Sanders as players who signed one-year deals to compete for a starting job with a Super Bowl contender.

The Patriots lost cornerbacks Asante Samuel to the Eagles and Randall Gay to the Saints. They also lost Eugene Wilson to Tampa Bay. Wilson was drafted as a cornerback but finished his Patriots career as a safety.

"Adding a cornerback with Fernando's experience and production is a good opportunity for us," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said.

This signing is great but imo the Pats get their real keepers in the draft. I don't want to think about what that defense would look like with Ghoulston or Ellis and I don't want to picture the offense with McFadden.

I agree. The Pats haven't had a top 10 pick in a long time. I get the creeping feeling that whoever they decide to get with the pick, he will be a superstar.

whoever they get want have to come in with the pressure that they need to help turn a team around it should be a good spot for any of the high draft picks (projected)even if they come in and start they want have the pressure of going to a losing team !!

I think 7 just may be the right spot for them to make a selection. If it were any higher, and I mean just one or two spots up, they'd trade down in a heartbeat.
