Brunell agrees to deal with Saints
Free-agent quarterback Mark Brunell has reached an agreement in principle to join the Saints this season, league sources said Thursday evening.

The deal will be for two years, but Brunell has not yet signed the paperwork, a league source said.

Brunell, 37, visited with the Saints on Monday night and Tuesday. He'll likely replace veteran backup Jamie Martin on the roster as Drew Brees' understudy.

That's a pretty cake gig. Brees won't be getting yanked unless he breaks his leg. Plus, he's been fairly healthy the last couple seasons.

Either way I think the Saints would be in trouble if Brees went down. Yea, Brunell is a game manager but I just can't see the Saints winning when everyone is keyed on Reggie Bush.

If Brunell sees playing time, the Saints won't be going anywhere. Even with Brees starting every game, it'll be a stretch to see another miracle run like 2006.
