It was wrong to keep him this long. Three things I hate in sports are when coaches wait a pitch or a batter too long to pull a pitcher in baseball, wait a made basket or so too long to call a timeout in basketball, and when teams know good and damn well their manager/coach is out there fraudin', but keep him around for a few more games.

for some reason, I don't think it is the coach making the call to keep Favre in. It was a business decision to keep him in, and winning wasn't at the forefront of the decision; it was about the fans

Bad decision imo. Its the vikings defense that has the most problems this year and should be blamed on the defensive cordinator frazier yet their making him head coach?

The team was falling apart he was showing improvement as he gatherd a talented team but it is the coaches job to maintain order. The moss situaton was just one example he was aware of Moss's issues before he signed him and he needed to work with him and he should have known that. Chilly lost the team, it had to be done. Same thing as happened in Dallas to Wade Phillips.

The contract extension after last year's championship run should've never happened. Almost any coach could've managed all of that talent to that single playoff victory.

LA Vikings, eh? I wonder if they would realign the divisions to keep the territorial nature of the divisions. Maybe The Rams and Vikings swap divisions? I seriously doubt the Vikings move, though, they've talked about it since the '90s & nothing ever happens.

Was at the game on Sunday, great day as a Packer fan! We knocked out two coaches in two weeks, lol. But yeah, the Vikings are a hurtin unit no matter who is calling the plays. They put all their chips into the pot this season and choked, it is going to take a long time to rebuild from this mess. Doesn't help that they lost a draft pick either.

For nearly 30 years this organization has failed to put a great coach and great QB combo together. With how much money and interest there is in the NFL, this is an insult to Vikings fans.

There has been plenty of talent but no real winning attitude for 3 decades. No Viking fan should be happy until this team establishes some sort of authentic identity. More heads need to roll in Minnesota, and some asses need to be kicked.

You should probably google how this story went. Childress waived the guy, but Childress didn't have any authority to do so. 24 hours later, it was official. It had to go through the front office and whatnot. Maybe some politics took place, who knows? Maybe Childress had to call in some favors to get rid of Moss and now here we are.

Chilly is the one in the Vikes organization that was thinking clearly. With his reactions to Favre and Moss, he obviously opposed these boneheaded moves in the first place. Obviously somebody in the Wilf family is thinking along the lines of "HURR DURR if we haz Favre and Moss we iz unbeatable!" without considering the downside of those guys.

Favre the diva lost the Vikes the NFC championship games, cost them their '10 season, and I guarantee you he is the reason the players turned on Childress.

I agree that Chilly got a bum rap. But he's a terrible game day coach, misusing timeouts and mistakes in key situations.

Further, Minnesota is a strange place. They want to run coaches out of town before they do anything wrong. Denny Green was under fire constantly and all he did was post winning records and take the team to the playoffs year after year with inferior talent, BTW. The local news tonight already has Leslie Frazier on suicide watch, counting the days to his firing. It's the Minnesota culture. They just want to pick on people, apparently, because their lives are so miserable or whatever. Maybe someone else can explain to me why this is.

That's really weird, I went to Minneapolis once and everyone seemed really nice. Like overly nice. I guess that may have been because it was summer.

I think every coach has those mistakes, I saw some analysis that says every coach in the NFL sucks at optimal clock management. It's just how the fanbase deals with it, and I think a lot of it has to do with charisma. Given Minnesota's pre-Chilly history or Philly's pre-Reid history, there's little other reason both coaches get so much hate.
